Taxis

Am developing a theory that roughly 1 in 5 taxi drivers are really entertaining. (Sample size still fairly small). Got picked up by one yesterday who spent a long time explaining to me why everyone here is so relaxed, as well as pointing out that no one ever uses their horn. It basically boils down to long prison sentences for violent crime and the fact that everyone is just pretty chilled out. He then went on to demonstrate how relaxed drivers are by cutting in and out of traffic and weaving in and out of traffic for a few minutes while laughing manically...

you are starting to quote Perny!!what a devote postdoc!
two things: just be careful, might be some law saying walking is forbidden in certain times of the day.
second: i think it says a lot about human nature that any kind of respect for strangers has to forced upon us by a nasty repression like there. and here too, thanks to the always lovely polizei.

and why don't you remove this thing that i have to sign in each time icomment?i'm too lazy for that :P

The funny thing is the respect for strangers isn't forced by the laws. I've found people here to genuinely kind and helpful in a way that seems less common in Europe.
