universal nationalism...

Just watching BBC news, and I noticed that the flag for the Lega Nord (Italian fascist party) is basically the English St George flag with a sword wielding dude on it... I've always associated the English flag with drunk, aggressive football fans and the BNP (British Nazi Party).

At least I'm not the only one now...

hey, hey, hey....
don't want to sound like the primary school teacher but it's not the fascist party. we have those too, one is called alleanza nazionale, and it's disappearing into berlusconi's party, anotherone is called La destra, didn't make it into the parliament, they looooove mussolini and want to rewrite history.
Lega has no historical basis, unless you count their attempt to look like the heirs f the barbarians who conquered the roman empire(300 a.c.?), and that had that flag, maybe possibly unlikely, that is also the shirt of the inter-milan footbal team.
they are born out of the hate against south people (now mercifully extended to africans and chinese...), and it has slogans like : we have it hard, from which the word celodurismo (haveithardism). THIS PEOPLE got somthing like 10% votes in the country but locally they reach 60%.they wish hey have anything to do with england, but they don't.
